DIY Paper Organizer For A Home Office

If your working space is a mess, organize it making a paper and newspaper holder of a piece of wood and plastic. For this craft you’ll need 3 plastic bottles, a piece of wood, 3 can tops, a knife, scissors, a screwdriver, a ruler, an awl and some screws. Cut the top of the bottles, don’t deform them; using the awl or a drill make holes in the tops of the bottles. Screw the bottles to the slab of wood and from the other side fix some screws for hanging on the wall. If you don’t like the edges of the bottles you can decorate them with some braids. Enjoy the organizer!

DIY : Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade

DIY Advent 19: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade
I suffer from agoraphobia, and when I see large crowds, I want to get away. Therefore, I am completing my purchases during the festive season in the “Speedy Gonzales” pace and discover a possible bad buy only back home. So it happened with these disco balls, which I bought for Christmas tree decoration, but which proved to be a kind of deco confetti.
Go back to the lion’s den, only to exchange the balls for me was not in question – those things have cost just under 3 euros. And as I do not need any deco confetti, I made with the disco balls this bracelet and another earrings. For me this was the better (and faster) way than to try to get cash in exchange from the harried sales clerks.
PS I just imagine myself scattering masses of small disco balls as decoration throughout our whole home. That would be definitely a ground for divorce for my husband

For this DIY project you need:

DIY Advent 19: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade
1.) Streudeko disco balls (from the Christmas departments)
2.) large black beads (I have used 6 disco balls and 6 beads)
3.) a normal needle and a big needle for wool (or something else to make holes in the Styrofoam balls)
4.) elastic yarn for jewelry (stretchy)
5.) fringes for the tassels (wool or knitting yarns)

THE TUTORIAL:

Before the DIY one more tip: Disco balls, which are not processed very well and may have slightly sharper edges, can be easily sealed with nail polish. Just paint the sharp edges with a little clear nail polish.
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 1 of 6Craft the tassel following this manual(without beads) and then tie it up with a thread.
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 2 of 6Pierce every 6 Styrofoam disco balls with the big needle.
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 3 of 6Arrange the black beads and the disco balls alternately on the elastic thread.
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 4 of 6Arriving at the end thread the elastic yarn into a needle and pull it through the beads and disco balls to the other end again. These can be left with a 4 cm long loop at the beginning (see photo).
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 5 of 6Knot both ends a few times.
DIY PROJECT: Barcelet with Disco Balls Selfmade - Step 1 of 6Finally traverse the tassel through the loop and knot it with the threads of the barcelet a few times well. DONE!

DIY : Beautiful Recycling – Barcelets from Plastic Bottles

DIY Advent 17: Beautiful Recycling - Barcelets from Plastic Bottles
Bearing in mind that we should take a day at least 3 liters of fluid to us, a single human requires whole 730 1.5 liter bottles of water per year. The plastic bottles end up in the waste container and get melted under an enormous environmental impact, only to get very poor quality plastic. But with a little imagination you could tinker around 3,650 bracelets (5 pieces per bottle!) from this garbage. That would be so many bracelets that you could wear the next 10 years every day a new one! It would also save a lot of money and relieve the environment significantly. A nice idea, I think.
Under the slogan “Even with small steps we can progress” I will show you how to turn a plastic bottle to pretty bracelets. From plastic bottles (PET), some fabric and a little imagination you can tinker very pretty bracelets, which are also wonderful as a last minute own-Christmas present.
I made four different bracelets that you can use as inspiration. Elastic fabrics are the easiest to handle, as these are much more flexible. Solid fabrics should be at least twice as wide as the bracelet and be glued centered from the outside to the inside.

For this DIY project you need:

DIY Advent 17: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles (PET)
1.) Plastic bottle (PET bottle)
2.) Fabric (and, if desired sequins, buttons, ribbons …)
3.) Wide duct tape or adhesive masking tape
4.) Scissors
5.) Cutter (wallpaper knife)
6.) Hot glue gun (at the hardware store or from Amazon, about EUR 7, -)

THE TUTORIAL:

DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 1 of 8Wrap the duct tape around the plastic bottle. By this way you can easily cut and immediately fix the width of the bracelet.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 2 of 8Carefully cut with the cutter into the bottle along the tape. Use a solid surface (such as a cutting board from the kitchen), so the work surface is not damaged.
DIY Advent 17: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles (PET)
Here is the cut-off plastic part. As you can see, as a bracelet it is still too wide.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 3 of 8Therefore, cut the plastic bracelet with scissors. Now you can determine the desired size directly on your hand and then fix the ends with the duct tape.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 4 of 8Now wrap the whole bracelet with the duct tape at least twice (from inside outwards). This step is very important because it will be wrapped over the sharp edges of the plastic and does not melt later under the hot glue .
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 5 of 8When you work with an elastic fabric, pull it gently in length before gluing, so that the edges curl, and thus disappear to the inside.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 6 of 8Attach some glue on one side only and, with the tip of the glue gun do not press too much to the bracelet.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 7 of 8Glue the double folded fabric diagonally and still wrap the band diagonally as well around the bracelet. Only at the ends some more glueing is required.
DIY PROJECT: Bracelets from Plastic Bottles - Step 8 of 8Arriving at the end, you still should have enough material left to let the fabric band ending at the inside of the bracelet. Smear some glue on the last few centimeter and fix it to the inside. DONE!

Now you can add some spicing up to your finished bracelet as you like. Your imagination knows no boundaries. Here are some of my examples:

DIY Green: Turn a plastic bottle into a unique-looking vase

The inspiration for this post came from seeing this post on ReNest about creating hanging vases from plastic bottles (pictured at right). Great idea, easy to make and eco-friendly, right?
Well, after a little more research, I came upon this tutorial on WikiHow for a making a unique "woven" vase from a plastic bottle (pictured below). It's so pretty, you'd probably never guess that it was made from a used soda bottle!
It's yet another way to give something you'd probably throw in the trash — or hopefully recycle — new life as eye-catching decor and would also make a great project for kids (with adult supervision).

DIY Clay Letters For Different Stuff For All Daddies

Father’s Day is coming! Despite of the presents we’ve told you about you can make these containers for pins and other stuff and make the word Dad of them. You’ll need a rolling pin, palette knife, straight edge, alphabet cookie cutters, air-drying clay. Make the base of the clay and cut strips and then press them to the base; smooth the seams and let dry. When the letters are completely dry, sand the container with sand paper until smooth and you can paint them. The containers may be painted into two colors – white outside and gold inside, that’s a stylish gift.
